You may also find marinas, fishing, lake cruises, canoeing, waterskiing and the world’s longest floating boardwalk (3,300 feet). Located 15 miles north of the city on US 95, this park is a late 1880’s
theme park with Victorian styled features including a professional ice
show, antique airplane museum, steam train, bi-plane demonstrations, and
the famous Grizzly roller coaster.

Coeur D’Alene was named when French traders tried to bribe the local Indians with trinkets in exchange for valuable pelts. The Indians could not be fooled and refused to trade. The trappers thought they were "hard-hearted" and sharp as an awl. Coeur D'Alene Translates to "heart of the awl". Fort Coeur D’Alene or "Fort Sherman" as it’s now known was founded in 1876.
