IT’S ALL ABOUT THE LAKES - Boating, which lake would you like? Coeur D’Alene, Hayden Lake, Spirit Lake, Twin Lake, Fernan Lake, or the Pend Oreille. All of these are within about a half hour drive. And all allow you all the water fun you could want, boating, fishing, water skiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing or just hanging out with friends and family on the beach. there are plenty of boating activities in and around Coeur d'Alene.

Golf Coeur D’Alene has a course for everyone.

Coeur d'Alene is home to the famous floating green located at the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course. Selected for a gold medal by Golf Magazine, the Resort course has been called "America's Most Beautiful Resort Course" by Golf Digest. You may also find marinas, fishing, lake cruises, canoeing, waterskiing and the world’s longest floating boardwalk (3,300 feet).

Some other courses in the area are The Highlands, CDA Municipal Course, Avondale, Hayden Lake Country Club, and the list goes on and on!

Silverwood Theme Park - Located 15 miles north of the city on US 95, this park is a late 1880’s theme park with Victorian styled features including a professional ice show, antique airplane museum, steam train, bi-plane demonstrations, and the famous Grizzly roller coaster.

Coeur d'Alene has several beautiful lakes all around it.  One of which is the very large and very deep Lake Pend Oreille (pronounced Pendoray), about 20 minutes' to the drive north. Another is of course Lake Coeur D'Alene, once called "one of the five most beautiful lakes in the world" by National Geographic. It is 25 miles long and averages 2 1/2 miles in width. The lake features a large population of osprey and also American bald eagles and is surrounded by mountains and forest. All of the lakes around Coeur D’Alene are warm enough to swim in.

Coeur D’Alene was named when French traders tried to bribe the local Indians with trinkets in exchange for valuable pelts. The Indians could not be fooled and refused to trade. The trappers thought they were "hard-hearted" and sharp as an awl. Coeur D'Alene Translates to "heart of the awl". Fort Coeur D’Alene or "Fort Sherman" as it’s now known was founded in 1876.
